STRFKR é uma banda de indie rock de Portland, Oregon. Começou em 2007 como um projeto solo de Joshua Hodges. Antes de formar Starfucker, Hodges lançou um álbum solo intitulado Sexton Blake e seguiu com um álbum lançado sob o nome de banda "Sexton Blake", intitulado Plays The Hits! Ambos os álbuns foram lançados na Expunged Records. Durante este período, Corcoran foi o baterista da banda The Weirding Way, baseada em Las Vegas. O nome Starfucker começou como uma brincadeira por Sam Norris, um antigo patrono da banda, mas o sucesso da banda sob o nome cresceu rapidamente. Em resposta a esse sucesso, e com a orientação de um agente de negócios, eles mudaram brevemente seu nome para Pyramiddd, antes de mudar o nome de volta. Em 2010, Starfucker anunciou que assinaria com a Polyvinyl Records, lançando um EP de duas músicas e um álbum completo em preparação para março de 2011. Em 2 de agosto de 2011, Starfucker anunciou que Ryan Biornstad deixaria a banda. O grupo encurtou seu nome para STRFKR em 2012.
