A Cinematic Orchestra é um grupo britânico de nu jazz e música eletrônica , criado em 1999 por Jason Swinscoe. O grupo está assinado com a gravadora independente Ninja Tune . Além de Swinscoe, a banda inclui o ex- membro do DJ Food PC (Patrick Carpenter) no toca - discos , Luke Flowers ( bateria ), Tom Chant ( saxofone ), Nick Ramm ( piano ), Stuart McCallum ( guitarra ) e Phil France ( contrabaixo ) . Os ex-membros incluem Jamie Coleman ( trompete ), T. Daniel Howard (bateria), Federico Ughi(bateria), Alex James ( piano ) e Clean Sadness ( sintetizador , programação). A adição mais recente à banda é o guitarrista mancuniano Stuart McCallum. Swinscoe e Carpenter também gravaram juntos sob o nome de banda Neptune.

O som da Orquestra Cinematográfica, em contextos ao vivo e em estúdio , emprega uma banda ao vivo que improvisa junto com uma lista de turntables e elementos eletrônicos como amostras fornecidas pela Swinscoe. Em seu estúdio libera Swinscoe, muitas vezes, remixar o material de origem ao vivo para produzir uma combinação de jazz ao vivo improvisação com música eletrônica , de tal forma que é difícil dizer onde termina a improvisação ea produção começa.
